On a Midsummer’s night, four young lovers find themselves wrapped in the dream-like arms of an enchanted forest where sprites lurk and fairies rule. While a feuding Fairy King and Queen are at war, their paths are crossed by Bottom, Quince and their friends presenting a play within a play. Chief mischief-maker Puck is on-hand to ensure that the course of true love is anything but smooth, and games of fantasy, love and dreams ensue in Shakespeare’s most beguiling comedy.

Cyprus, the Island that lies at the farthest Eastern end of the Mediterranean sea; the Island that is the legendary birthplace of the goddess of love, Aphrodite; the Island that is home to an 8000 year old civilisation at Choirokoiti near the modern commercial port of Limassol and also an Island full of Internationally renowned Heritage sites. One of the most spectacular archaeological sites on the island is the ancient site known as The Kourion. This was an important city kingdom where excavations continue to reveal impressive new treasures and it is noted in particular for its magnificent Greco - Roman Theatre.

Originally built in the 2nd century B.C., Kourion’s awe - inspiring theatre is now fully restored and used for musical and theatrical performances annually.

Every year, in June, a production of one of Shakespeare’s plays is performed by local amateur actors for the benefit of the Cypriot and every growing ex-pat communities that chose to make Cyprus their home, with all profits going to local charities. In 2018, the group, known as “Shakespeare at Curium” are proud to present their production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
